Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanses healing technique that taps into the Universal Life Force Energy that we all possess.  It was re-discovered by Mikao Usui in the late 1800s in Japan and brought to the US by Mrs. Hawayo Takata.

Everything in our universe is energy and our animals are especially tuned in to that energy.  Have you noticed how they always seem to know your mood? 

The "Rei" part of Reiki means spritual wistom (or the wisdom that comes from God) and "Ki" means life force energy that animates all living things.  As long as something is alive it has life energy.  So the God-Consciousness called Rei guides the life energy called Ki in the practice of Reiki.  During a Reiki treatment, Reiki guides itself with its own wisdom through the practitioner to the area that is in need of healing.
